The 3rd Annual Long Island Kidney Walk will take place tomorrow at Hofstra University at 10:30 a.m. The 5K walk is an annual event which promotes awareness and understanding of kidney-related disease and emphasizes the need for organ and tissue donations.
Residents and members of the community are encouraged to attend the walk and support those that are participating to help raise funds for research and gain awareness of kidney disease.
“The Long Island Kidney Walk provides needed support and assistance for local individuals suffering from kidney disease and sheds light on the growing need for organ and tissue donor awareness,” says Assemblyman Jim Conte, who has been appointed this year’s Grand Marshall
Bryan Collins, a kidney recipient and C.W. Post director of athletics and head football coach, will attend the walk as well as and Grizz Chapman from NBC’s 30 Rock, who is currently battling kidney disease and dialysis.
