5 Arrested for Insurance Fraud in East Meadow

Five employees of an East Meadow insurance agency were arrested on Wednesday morning, after an investigation uncovered an ongoing scheme to defraud clients in 2009, police say.

The five agents from Rosen Insurance Agency on Hempstead Turnpike earned advances and guaranteed bonuses based upon them selling insurance policies, and police say all five wrote policies and collected compensation by using the personal information of former employees.

Otari Bater, 36, of Plainview, Wayne Fader, 38, of Seaford, Melissa Hyland, 27, of Elmont, Nedelka McLean, 49, of Freeport and Charles Willon, 25, of Bayshore were charged with multiple offenses including criminal possession of a forged instrument, grand larceny and scheme to defraud.
