Unfortunately for the sport of Bodybuilding, Power lifting, and Weightlifting; their partnership with steroid use goes back approximately 50 years.

Not even used to the extent of these latter years, but experimented with they were.

It seems no matter how many articles are written explaining the consequences, or a certain local Professional here has spoken out on this, or the deaths to people we know, many are still willing to take the chance.

Sorry, but for a trophy, and maybe… maybe, becoming a top professional competitor?

Hey Abe, thanks for reading the story, but I wish you'd have read the accompanying descriptions in the photo gallery. If you had, you would notice the blurb I wrote about Floyd Landis. I'll save you the trouble of clicking over to it:

"Professional cyclist who captured the Tour de France title in 2006. Days after winning the race, his urine sample tested positive for a high testosterone/epitestosterone ratio. A backup sample also tested positive. Landis was found guilty of doping, had his Tour de France title stripped and was banned from professional cycling for two years."

It's spelled out plain and simple right there, although I'd argue a test of someone's T/E ratio is a test for steroids, since the only thing really capable of boosting that number to 11:1 (what Landis' test came back as) is a massive amount of testosterone. Guess where that comes from.

Why would a cyclist take steroids? There's a whole range of performance enhancers that reduce muscle fatigue and improve endurance; both of those sound like things someone climbing mountains for more than 2,000 miles.

If you notice in the portion I briefly mention Landis, I say "Headlines tell us..." he took steroids. I'm not saying he did, I'm demonstrating the media's ability to blow stories not necessarily grounded in fact completely into the sky.

Before accusing someone of not doing research, please take the time to actually read everything that person has written. Thanks.

Goodness, it's called research people! Quit grouping Floyd Landis with steroids. Firstly, no actual evidence of Landis using banned substances was ever brought to light. Secondly, the (botched) test in question was for T/E Ratio, not steroids. How exactly would a cyclist benefit from steroid use? Please do some research before you start spouting off on the subject.
