In honor of William Shakespeare’s 446^th birthday, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley has declared Friday, April 23^rd, Talk Like Shakespeare Day.

“YES!” we said to ourselves, before remembering that we live in New York, and so far Bloomberg hasn’t declared a damned thing.

“Chicago is recognized as the home not only of ‘Da Bulls and ‘Da Bears, but also ‘Da Bard,” said Daley in a formal city proclamation.

And there you have it.

Now, we live nowhere near Chicago, but we have great respect for the Bard in these parts, so when all the news updates on this website start beginning with “thou saidst the police,” don’t say we didn’t warn you.
