Two Brooklyn men were arrested Friday for buying $80,000 worth of electronics using fraudulently purchased gift cards at the Target in Valley Stream and other locations across the tri-state area over the past five months, Nassau County police said.
Raymond Castillo, 28, and Lancelot Davis, 25, purchased numerous gift cards at Target stores throughout the tri-state area by using stolen or fraudulent credit cards in November 2009 and used the gift cards to purchase electronics and other merchandise, police said.
A department manager for the store on West Sunrise Highway recognized the suspects, witnessed them making additional purchases of high-end electronics and notified store security and police, according to Crimes Against Property Squad detectives.
Castillo and Davis were found to be in possession of numerous fraudulent credit cards and were charged with grand larceny, possession of a forged instrument and scheme to defraud. Castillo was also charged with identity theft.
They were arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
