This is perfect.....this goes back to presenting vs engaging...if we invest in these technologies (and it will be an investment) are the teachers just letting the students know what have been installed or are they actually using the technology in the lessons and encouraging students to explore these new options for class presentations, projects etc.....but then again, if the teachers aren't willing to learn how can they teach the students???

Great points all around when it comes to budget use and technology in education. There are many great tools out there that are free and are able to replace some very expensive tech implementations in schools, but I think the biggest problem, beyond individual comprehension or acceptance or even the technology itself, is management. The world of education is clogged with committees, incompetence and mediocrity. There are some institutions and communities that have risen above these perils and have succeeded in implementing these tools along with traditional media so we know it can happen. But, until education in general begins to implement accountability, nothing will change.

Having grown up in Sweden, and having spent the last 6 1/2 years in Australia, and only 4 months in the US, the Jetsons reference sort of goes "swooosh" right over my head. I know o f it, but have never seen it. It is my understanding that they are one family who are technologically way ahead of the pack? I have not come in contact with a smartboard in education. But having just adopted a more mobile lifestyle myself, in short, no, I don't think it is viable to invest in fancy hardware that needs to be bolted to the walls of a classroom from which we are already trying to move away.

And while the quick-and-traceless web editing capabilities are great from an editor's POV, it raises some concerns in regard to what was said or stated. Proving what was expressed in, say, an offer or terms of service, would still require a printout, and even this could be edited before printing.

Season 1 of the Jetsons aired from ’62-63. Season 2 was not released until 1985 and Season 3 in 1987. The tv and video special waited for the 90s.

So, in never letting the show run for more than one consecutive season, are we subconsciously showing our intense fear of moving into the technologically based world we expect of the future? Or are were writing it all off as Sci-Fi fantasies that would be nice in theory, but could never really happen outside a movie set/animation program?
