A pedestrian was struck and killed by at least two cars in Stony Brook on Tuesday night.
Suffolk County police said the victim was apparently trying to cross over from the east side to the west side of Nicolls Road at the corner of South Drive when the crash occurred 9:05 p.m. The victim, whose name was not immediately release, was declared dead at the scene.
The drivers of two vehicles that struck the pedestrian stopped after the collision and were interviewed by police. A third vehicle may have also struck the pedestrian and continued northbound on Nicolls Road, police said. Police believe the driver of that third vehicle may not be aware that their vehicle may have hit the pedestrian.
Sixth Squad detectives are continuing their investigation and ask that anyone with information contact them at 631-854-8652 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
