7th Woman
Good point about the attendance – I’m sure the economic climate factored in but I was still surprised to see the numbers so far off last year when you consider what a disaster that season was. They were so much more fun to watch this year.

And just to clarify, I meant no disrespect to Moulson by using the word scrapheap – just meant to imply he had kind of been discarded by LA and was available for noting – and turned out to be an amazing find. Reminded me all year of a less nasty version of Mike Ricci.

Love the “Goodbye to Season” video on your blog site – nice job.

Mike:

Very good recap and excellent quotes. (I'm jealous.) And the only thing I have a problem with (this time) is using the word "scrapheap" with Moulson. Boo Hiss!! I'd also take the 1,000 less fans per game average as having something to do with the economy as well. Actually, I was pretty sure it was going to be far worse than that.
:o)

I know wang's love affair with DP ....the fans love him too....realistically though he followed a very closely monitored process to return this year...caution was the byword for the entire organization regards DP. After all that, he still has knee trouble and had to be shut down the last month. It may not be on Wang's radar but it should be. Due to injury, DP is no longer the player he was.

Just don't believe buying DP out is on Wang's radar though I don't disagree with the sentiment. Of the free agents that are currently unsigned and could realistically be on Snow’s radar, I really like Atlanta’s Bryan Little and/or Colby Armstrong; Dallas’ James Neal; the Kings Alex Frolov and on defense the Leafs Garnet Exelby would be a great fit for the Isles.

You’re right about Gervais – he seems headed backwards to me but I think Martinek still has value. Trent Hunter…I’m done waiting on him and Comeau is a player worth keeping an eye on for sure.

Get a buyout settlement on DP...love the guy but he's injury prone and may never get back to where he was. Roloson looks like he's got 2 years still in his tank....release Biron and either sign a backup or bring one up from the minors. Gervais makes too many mental errors with the puck and Martinek is too injury prone. Get a backliner with size and toughness.

Hunter's production keeps dropping and he's too slow to play this up tempo offense. Weight is long in the tooth and injury prone. get a forward who can score and get a veteran forward who has size and skill to give Tavares more protection and room to operate.

And don't forget Comeau.....his game is really starting to come on. next season the kid will turn into a consistent real deal
