A very nice idea for an article, but WAY too much of that ubiquitous modern hardcore/emo, to the exclusion of genres that are of equal or more historical/sonic importance.

No ska at all? Surely room could have been found for the seminal eponymous 1991 debut by Huntington's legendary Scofflaws, who kicked off and nurtured the LI ska scene throughout the '90s, when it was a defining genre of the area. The Scofflaws' gigs were a rite of passage for many LI teens during that decade--heck, I moved to the Island in 1990 as a result!

I absolutely think "Tasty" by The Good Rats should have been included.
It was an essential and definitive LP of Long Island '70s rock, with more local flavor and influence than anything by Eddie Money.

Biggest exclusion: the Stray Cats!?!
C'mon, Massapequa's finest jumpstarted the entire New York rockabilly revival here in the early '80s, something that's still reverberating (see Rockabilly Barbers and all the current rockabilly events).

LL Cool J is great, but has nothing to with LI...he's a Queens guy.

Questionably missing: Vanilla Fudge (huge in their day), Harry Chapin, Zebra, Nihilistics, Crumbsuckers (there was lots of hardcore punk here in the ‘80s, believe it or not), EPMD, Edna’s Goldfish, My Favorite.
