More than 254,000 Long Island residents lost power due to hurricane force winds on Saturday and 216,482 have been restored, according to the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA).
LIPA says more than 1000 crews are working around the clock to restore power and the majority of customers will be restored by late Wednesday evening.
Some areas involving significant damage may not be restored until Wednesday or Thursday, according to LIPA. The majority of customers will receive a call indicating an estimate of restoration for their electric service.
