Nassau police are looking for a man who smashed the front door of a Bellmore LIPA office on Monday, after employees inside the building told him it was closed for the night.
At 5:15 p.m., the man reportedly told witnesses that his home was without power due to the recent storm was insistent that someone step outside to speak with him and became agitated when employees advised him that he needed to phone the LIPA emergency number, police say.
Employees said they heard a loud bang as they returned to their offices and then saw glass in the building’s foyer and the man walking away from the shattered front door.
The investigation is ongoing.
