A drunken driving Massapequa woman collided with two vehicles at the scene of a car crash in Cold Spring Harbor early Sunday morning, Suffolk police said.
Eric Licursi, 24, from Cape Coral, Fla., lost control of his Honda while driving southbound on Woodbury Road at 2:49 a.m. His vehicle overturned and struck a tree, partially ejecting Licursi from the vehicle. A Lincoln Aviator stopped to offer him assistance.
Shortly thereafter, Melissa Woods, 33, of Massapequa, was driving her Toyota Solara in the same direction on Woodbury Road. As she approached the site of the crash, she was unable to stop, struck Licursi’s overturned Honda, and then the unoccupied Lincoln Aviator.
Licursi was pronounced dead at the scene and Second Squad detectives are investigating whether he died prior to or after Woods crashed into the victim’s vehicle. Woods’ passenger was treated at Huntington Hospital for minor back and shoulder injuries and released.
Woods is charged with driving while intoxicated. She will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday.
