Valley Stream Man Fires Shotgun In Home, Arrested

A Valley Stream man was arrested Friday morning on weapons and drugs charges after firing a 12-gauge shotgun multiple times in his apartment, Nassau Police said.

According to detectives, Fifth Precinct police officers responding to a call at 354 W. Valley Stream Boulevard discovered Jean Carlo Gonzalez, 29, had fired a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun four times in his apartment, damaging a wall, door and cabinets. Officers observed a leafy, green substance believed to be marijuana and two vials of pills believed to be a controlled substance while safeguarding the weapon. There were no injuries.

Gonzalez was arrested without incident and charged with 1st Degree Reckless Endangerment, 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief, two counts of 7th Degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, two counts of 4th Degree Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.

He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead Friday.
