This dog has a nose for Super Bowl winners. A German shepherd-border collie mix who lives on Long Island has correctly predicted the past six National Football League champions before the games begin. And the 14-year-old named Lady sniffed out a pick to win this year: the New Orleans Saints. Glen Cove resident Vera Von Wiren-Garczynski owns Lady. But the black-and-white dog watches the Super Bowl on television with Wiren-Garcynski’s cousin, 65-year-old Paul Wisniewski. He says a day or two before Sunday’s game Lady is taken on a walk. Upon returning home, she’s asked if she wants to come in. If she doesn’t, it means the AFC is going to win.But he says if she does, it means she’s picked the NFC to win.
Megan Fox used a thumb-double in her Super Bowl commercial because she has an inherited hand defect known as brachydactyly or “clubbed thumbs.” The medical term literally means “shortness of the fingers and toes.” Since the commercial involved Fox sitting naked in a bathtub with a cell phone camera, we somehow don’t think anyone would have noticed either way.
The New Orleans Saints’ victory over Indianapolis in the Super Bowl was watched by more than 106 million people, nosing out the 1983 finale of “MASH” to become the most-watched program in U.S. television history, the Nielsen Company said Monday.

Back in the day, we quit ballet after finding out we had to wear our hair in a bun. We cried and cried and cried—not sure why that was so traumatizing, but at the time it was. Now, every time we come across some form of tulle, we wonder if it is too late to be a ballerina. Well it might not be, at least if talk show queen Oprah Winfrey waves her diamond-encrusted wand at us. Op’s people aka the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) will be in Bay Shore on Thursday and they’re looking for people who have a goal they’ve always wanted to accomplish but never achieved, whether that be forming a band, entering a triathlon or, if you had a bobby pin phobia too, becoming a ballerina. If this sounds like you, bring yourself, a photo and your dreams to the Bay Shore YMCA at 200 W. Main St between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11.
