Oh cry me a river Jeff d.. Shes not exaclty promoting kids going into these places and lighting fires and what not, its all about the local history. When was the last time you heard about a firefighter having to go rescue some “trapped” kids from Kings Park or Pilgrim?? ..let alone dying in the process.

More like “Bygone LI, where we were forced to go after being booted off LIO for acting like children, even though we’re in our 40′s.” Grow up you retarded losers, Nobody on Long Island Oddities destroys Long Island’s history, if you’re going to make accusations try backing it up with facts or proof, scumbag. Where’s your news articles hmmm? I smell jealousy, because nobody cares about your little ripoff unoriginal website named after a section of the LIO website that has been around years before you ever thought you were somebody special. In short – Bygone LI is for old farts who wish their website was original and cool, when it’s clearly an idea they can take zero credit for coming up with. GOOD JOB WITH THE SHAMELESS PLUGS THOUGH!

Good for you, Jaclyn. Jeff D. seems like someone who is used to commenting from the sidelines. The real issue may be that he really wishes it was him who wrote this story. Could also be that he hates his life and resents you for your’s.

Jeff, I think I did a thorough job in explaining the dangers of entering the building and the fact that not a soul would find you, or know you were there, even that firefighter, if you were to get hurt. That’s the price you pay for breaking the law and entering a condemned building. It is a risk I chose to take.

I am a reporter. I am not of the mindset that we ignore things and hope for the best…that we don’t talk about sex in high schools, birth control, protection, because it might give kids the idea to go out and do it.

I believe people are smart. They are curious. And I believe in giving people the facts before hand and letting them decide for themselves. So while I appreciate your opinion, however patronizing, I am not a role model. That is not my job. I tell stories. And this is my story.

So, you committed a crime and admitted to it in the first two paragraphs. While I enjoyed the story I have to say you are setting a bad example for the younger readers. Did you even try to get permission from the State to enter these buildings?
One other question, are you going to write about the poor kid who gets hurt or killed in one of these buildings after reading your story and deciding to see for him/her-self? Or will you write the eulogy for a firefighter who gets killed when he has to enter those buildings to try to save one of these “adventurers” who gets into trouble.
