I hope they took the contract proposal and force-fed it up Dolan's ass.

I will never, ever spend another nickel on MSG's teams until Dolan sells them.

"Unions were created to protect the working people from being taken advantage of...... This was after the Triangle Shirt Factory fire that killed all of the employees (this included women and children). There was no means of escape and they all were burned alive."

You are sadly mistaken if you think that unions today serve the same purpose as they did in the days of the Industrial Revolution. Today, you have unionized county clerical workers, teachers, baseball players, IT employees, etc. None of them are remotely likely to be burned to death. The only burning that occurs is money - they burn theirs and the employer burns its until they are both out of busines, a la the UAW.

As far as the comments made about the unions, well, I work for a company that is unionized.

We are paid less than most people. We pay into everything we get. No free lunches here.

NEWSDAY - I WORKED THERE, THE PAY AND BENEFITS ARE BETTER THAN ANYWHERE ELSE. HAD TO TAKE A HUGE PAYCUT, WITH LONGER HOURS, AND LESS BENEFITS ELSEWHERE AFTER BEING LAYED OFF. IT IS NOT REALLY THAT UNREASONABLE IN LIGHT OF THE ECONOMY WHAT THEY ARE REQUESTING - EVEN WITH THE PAY CUT YOU'D BE MAKING MORE THAN MOST PEOPLE IN THE SAME INDUSTRY ON LONG ISLAND.
WHAT'S NOT RIGHT IS THE INEQUITY OF SALARIES BETWEEN MANAGEMENT AND THE FLOOR, EVEN BETWEEN PEOPLE IN NON UNION POSITIONS.

Very simple answer. Boycott anything to do with the Newsday-Cablesvision empire.

It is high time these jerks suffer for all of the toruble they've created for Long Island.

Money grubbing, sub-par reporting, lack luster service.... yeah that's a company that deserves to exist.

Force them into bankruptcy by not buying their products, or shut up.

F newsday, you pieces of crap, making us pay for access to your site on the internet, EAT IT. Hope you fade away.

Unions are killing this country, yes we would all love guaranteed jobs, but with this economy are killing companies like they have killed GM, with contracts that pay for workers even if they stay home, or how much our local PD gets paid way over what NYPD get paid. All becuase of stupid union contracts. How about the school custodian union which allows workers even after they have been arrested for drug possesion to retain their jobs. Once again it's a union that protecteing them. Yeah F Newsday for being the worst run paper in NY, F the Unions for always wanting more than what they deserve.

You are certainly right about it being all about the $$$$$$$$$$, isn't that what Cablevision has been known for? They raise the rates and give you less than what you had before! In this economy where workers are trying to keep their heads above 'water', Cablevision and their management just want to keep adding to their pockets whilst taking away from the employees that are actually getting the work done (bank bail-out anyone??) Let's hear it for the little guy for a change!!! I for one, am fed up with all the upper management that keep thinking they can just walk all over us and get away with it!!!! Unfortunately, most of the time we are at their mercy, but Newsday union took a stand and said, "Not this time". Kudos to all you who voted NO. Now Cablevision/Newsday has to get back to the bargaining table and negotiate a fair contract that everyone can live with.
