Ray, The Nassau GOP bankrolled more than HALF of Mangano’s campaign. He is OWNED by Mondello. Mangano has no new ideas and will do what Gulotta did – pay off the unions for support and bury financial problems and hide the hundreds of patronage jobs he plans to fill.
Schmit isn’t competent at all. He’s a bufoon. He hands out raises 2 days after the election to patronage employees.

You forget to mention Democrats out number Republicans in Nassau county plus Suozzi out spent Mangano 5 to 1 . Look at New Jersey where Dems out number Rupb’s 3 to 1 and they just lost the Gov. spot. Bottom line is many Democrats Voted against Suozzi and voted for the other democrat DA Rice why? DA Rice did a good job and Suozzi did a Bad Job !

If Magano & the Republican’s do what Souzzi did they will get throw out also. Hal, all of that is public knowledge. Therefore people like John and perhaps yourself have nothing to complain about. If people were so disinterested that they didn’t exercise their right to vote, and Suozzi took his opponent so lightly, how is that the fault of Republicans? It’s time to move on. Ed Mangano was my district legislature and if anyone, Republican or Democratic can make the hard decisions and do what’s really needed to resurect this County from the mess it’s in, it will be Ed. So sit back and give him a chance. I think the residents of Nassau are finally in for a pleasant surprise as Ed is only beholding to the voters, not anyone else.

John, the Republican machine in Nassau did NOTHING to elect Ed Managano. He owes them nothing. For all practical purposes he won as an independent. he had a war chest of $500,000 to combat Suozzi’s millions. If Suozzi couldn’t hold the vote in Nassau against a somewhat unknown, I guess that says volumes about how good a job the Dems did. So before accusing Republicans of chest thumping, maybe you had better feel more comfortable that the voting public had enough sense to end the Suozzi dog and pony show. In other words, let’s give Mangano a chance to get the job done. I’m sure he won’t make it any worse than it was with Tommy Tax at the controls.

John, first of all Gulotta did not lose. Souzzi won when it was an open seat against a political novice. Second, Souzzi and the Democrats have increased the tax burdens of the Nassau County taxpayers. It is ok to disagree with public officials but it is unnecessary to resort to name calling. While you may disagee with Leg, Schmidt I can assure you he is a competent man and does not wear floppy shoes.

So the nassau county republicans are back in control. Here comes the budget smoke and mirrors again. Does anyone remember why Gulotta lost? Because the republicans made a fininacial mess out of everything, insistent on holding the budget in the face of rising costs and dwindling revenues.
