As for children in restaurants, At the time my wife and I had two young children and did not get out much, So we decide to go out to dinner
at a more upscale Restaurant one table away was a family with three
children the young one cried the entire dinner while the older ones ran around the restaurant... We go out to have a nice dinner and it was ruined, The restaurant should have controlled the situation. We did not take our children to these type Restaurants until they were ready to act in a way that did not disturb other diners.

I completely agree with your assessment regarding young children in restaurants for late dinner. I am a parent of a 19 month old, and I would never take my baby to a "adult" restaurant for dinner. Lunch is another story, however. Even at lunch, I ask whether children are welcome before we are seated. If a restaurant doesn't have highchairs that is a pretty strong indication that children are not welcome.

I was in DeRaimos in Huntington last week; some woman had two beasties(ages 3 & 5 she proudly announced) running loose, knocking over chairs, dropping things, screaming, banging into people...none of us found them charming. She kept ASKING them over and over to behave...all they did was ignore her and get worse. Perhaps next time she could bring a cage and some muzzles and control her the little animals properly. I'm sure that if they had gotten hurt the first thing she would have done is sue the place.

I agree about young children in "adult" restaurants. Your choice to have children does not mean that I must join in raising them.

The spiel about the pepper, on the other hand, is a bit overblown.

"Purposefully under-seasoned?" Some people like pepper, some do not. For some it's fine as-is, for others it needs more.

And if they delay offering pepper because someone complains they're there too quickly, then someone else will complain they had to wait.
