A convenience store was robbed at gunpoint in West Hempstead on Tuesday night, Nassau police said.
A man entered the 7-11 on Hempstead Avenue, pulled a black ski mask over his head, pulled out a handgun and demanded the 46-year-old woman behind the counter put cash from the register into a gray gym bag at 11:09 p.m., according to 5th Squad detectives.
The robber also stole money from the lotto register and demanded access to the store’s safe, but the victim told him that only the manager could open it. The robber then fled the store and was last seen running onto Lindberg Street.
The suspect is described as black man, approximately 6’2” tall with dark skin, a thin build, clean-shaven, crooked teeth, wearing dark blue jeans and a gray hoodie.
Anyone with additional information about this robbery is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
