A person was fatally struck by a train just west of the Long Island Railroad’s Bellmore station during Saturday night’s blizzard.
The 7:10 p.m. train from Penn Station due in Babylon at 8:24 p.m. struck the person shortly after 8 p.m. Details, including the person’s name, have not yet been released, but the person was reportedly brought to Nassau University medical Center alive, according to an LIRR spokesman.
Metropolitan Transportation Authority police are investigating the case as a suicide.
Trains were delayed up to two hours and service to the Babylon line has been restored.
