A Shelter Island man suspected of dealing heroin was arrested Monday night, police said.
Evan Kraus, 26, was driving on South Ferry Road when he was pulled over by Shelter Island police for failing to stay in his lane and was found to be driving while high on heroin shortly after 9 p.m., police said.
Police said they found 78 packets of heroin on him “that were bundled for sales.”
Kraus was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, driving while ability impaired by drugs, failing to stay in lane, driving with suspended registration and no front license plate.
He pleaded not guilty at Shelter Island Justice Court where a judge set his bail at $30,000. He is being held at Suffolk County jail.
