A New Yorker who spent more than four hours trapped in an 18-foot hole while installing a cesspool is in satisfactory condition and is heading home.

Emergency Personnel carry a man to an awaiting ambulance after he spent over four hours trapped to his chest in sand and soil after falling into a cesspool in East Hills, N.Y. on Long Island's "Gold Coast." Police said that the unidentified man had apparently been inside an 18-foot hole, working to install a new cesspool tank, when the dirt walls surrounding him began to collapse.
