Parkway Crash Victims ID’d

New York State police released the names of the four people who were hurt and the man who lost his life in a car crash on the Northern State Parkway in Hauppauge on Wednesday morning. sirens19-300x300

The driver, 22-year-old Jose Mauricio Maldonado Santos of Centereach, lost control of the Honda while driving eastbound near Exit 46, veered onto the center median and struck a tree, ejecting three backseat passengers from the rear window at 6:52 a.m., police said.

The car came to a rest on the passenger side. Front seat passenger Fransisco Mejias Morales, 23, who lived with the driver, died in the crash.

Izac Mejia Morales, 23, and Neptali Mejias Morales, 18, two backseat passengers who also lived at the same address, were injured, as was Juan Carlos Santos, 22, who lives nearby the other victims in Centereach.

Eastbound traffic was closed for nearly three hours while investigators were on the scene.
