A Plainview man pleaded guilty at Suffolk County Court in Riverhead on Tuesday to allegations that she was involved in a multi-million dollar mortgage fraud ring along with a former Suffolk lawmaker.
Ethan E. Ellner pleaded guilty to conspiracy, scheme to defraud and three counts of grand larceny.
Ellner, an attorney and owner of Stony Brook-based Suburban Abstract, a title company, was arrested on March 25.
He admitted in court that he former Suffolk County Legislator George Guldi, Donald MacPherson and others defrauded lending institutions of millions of dollars by using forged documents, false employment and income information on applications, straw buyers, false powers of attorney, deed flipping, and mortgage stacking, according to Suffolk prosecutors.
“Ellner’s plea of guilty represents a major step forward in the prosecution of this band of criminals led by Guldi and MacPherson operating on the East End to steal millions,” District Attorney Tom Spota said in a statement.
Ellner will have his law license suspended and will be sentenced before Judge James Doyle on March 2. Guldi’s next court date is Jan. 11.
