LONDON (AP) — The WBC has suspended British boxer Dereck Chisora indefinitely following his brawl with former WBA champion David Haye after a title fight against Vitali Klitschko in Germany.
The WBC said Tuesday in a statement that it is also giving Chisora a “serious fine,” but that the amount will be determined after a hearing. The body said Chisora will be taken off the WBC rankings and is banned from fighting for its title. The statement added that the WBC is demanding that Chisora is treated for anger management, “after which his suspension will be reconsidered.”
Chisora and Haye started brawling at the British boxer’s news conference following his loss to Klitschko in the Feb. 18 bout for the WBC heavyweight title.
The WBC said Chisora’s misconduct “is considered one of the worst behaviors ever by a professional boxer.”
