Suffolk police arrested three people for leaving two children unsupervised with drugs and weapons within reach inside their Patchogue home on Wednesday morning.
Fifth Precinct officers patrolling the area spotted a man walking suspiciously outside of the Lakeland Avenue home and found that the man, 23-year-old Justin Giese, lived there with two boys, ages 4 and 5 who he said he was supposed to be supervising.
The officers entered the residence to check on the children and found another man, Reginald Lambre, 22, hiding in a bedroom. Further investigation revealed shotguns, rifles and crack cocaine were in an area accessible to the children.
Lambre, 22, and Giese, were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child. The children’s mother, 26-year-old Christina Gomez, was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Giese, Gomez, and Lambre will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.
Child Protective Services was notified and the children have been placed with a family member.
