A Bayville man was arrested Saturday in connection with a bank robbery that occurred in Glen Cove, Nassau police say.
According to detectives, at 9:35 a.m., 31-year-old Christopher Boisits entered the Bethpage Federal Credit Union on 111 School Street, placed a plastic bag containing a white plastic bottle on the tellers’ counter, while making a verbal demand for money.
Boisits indicated the bag contained an explosive and the teller detected the odor of bleach. After obtaining undisclosed cash proceeds, Boisits exited the bank and was seen heading westbound on School Street on foot. Glen Cove police officers located and arrested him behind 18 Cottage Row.
There were no reported injuries to the six employees or three customers present at the time of the robbery. Proceeds from the robbery and an empty 3 quart bottle of bleach were recovered and Boisits was charged with Robbery and Placing a False Bomb.
