Nassau Police are asking for help in finding a driver who fled the seen of an accident Thursday, leaving a 63-year-old woman in serious condition.
Police say the victim was stopped at a red traffic light at around 2:25 p.m. in her 2001 Hyundai, at the intersection of Bellmore Avenue and Sunrise Highway when her vehicle was struck from behind by a 1990’s black Dodge Dakota pickup truck.
The driver of the truck, who was described as a white male in his early twenties, wearing a baseball cap backwards, left the scene without identifying himself and drove westbound on Sunrise Highway. The victim was transported to an area hospital in serious condition.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
