Four men have been arrested in connection with several Valley Stream home burglaries and a Massapequa car theft.
Nassau detectives say on Oct. 7, 2009 at 11:45 a.m., Jose Hernandez, 20, of 23 East Hawthorne Avenue, Valley Stream and Emilio Martinez, 23, of 774 Merrick Road Apt C1, Lynbrook, broke into an unoccupied home on Pine St. in Valley Steam. They stole several items, including wristwatches, an iPod and a TV then fled the scene.
The two were not done there. On Nov. 4 Hernandez and Martinez, jumped into a 2009 Toyota Camry with a 63-year-old female victim, which was parked at the drive up ATM of the Chase Bank located at 4210 Sunrise Highway, Massapequa. The victim jumped out of her car and watched Hernandez and Martinez escape with her vehicle.
On Nov. 13, at 11:30 a.m. Hernandez, Martinez were joined byJorge Ortega, 17, of 55 West Lincoln Avenue, Valley Stream and Omar Sanchez, 17, of 87 Gold Street, Valley Stream when they gained front-door entry into an unoccupied home on Countisbury Ave. in North Valley Stream and stole assorted electronic components and jewelry and fled through a rear door.
A short time later, at approximately 1:45 p.m. all four defendants broke into a home on Fletcher Ave. but stopped when they noticed a neighbor had been watching them. They fled in the stolen Toyota.
A witness followed the car and blocked it at Fletcher Ave. at Hudson St. with his vehicle. A Fifth Precinct Sergeant who was on patrol in the area arrested the defendants at that location.
Jorge Ortega and Omar Sanchez were charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and Burglary 2nd Degree (Attempt). Jose Hernandez and Emilio Martinez were charged with two counts of Burglary 2nd Degree, Burglary 2nd Degree (Attempt) and Grand Larceny 3rd Degree-Motor Vehicle.
All four defendants will be arraigned todayt in First District Court, Hempstead.
