A teenager was struck and killed by a westbound Long Island Railroad train in Wyandanch on Sunday night, Metropolitan Transportation Authority police said.
The 10:40 p.m. train from Ronkonkoma due in Penn Station at 11:59 p.m. struck the 19-year-old Deer Park man while he was walking eastbound on the tracks shortly after 11 p.m., LIRR officials said. MTA police did not release the victim’s name. Suicide has not been ruled out, although the investigation is continuing, police said.
Train service was shut down and replaced with bus service between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma for more than three hours while investigators were on the scene.
