Nassau police arrested a teenager on Sunday in connection with the attempted robbery of an off-duty New York City Police officer in Elmont on Oct. 27.
David Jarvis, 16, of Jamaica was charged with attempted robbery and will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday.
Fifth Squad detectives say that Jarvis and 18-year-old Willie Watkins tried to rob the officer while the victim was sitting in his automobile near Locustwood Boulevard when one of the two alleged robbers, armed with a knife, pulled open the driver’s side door and attempted to carjack the victim.
The officer fired a shot from his service weapon and struck Watkins in the shoulder. Both suspects fled the scene on foot and Watkins was apprehended shortly after at a local hospital.
