A drunken driving Maryland man crashed his car on a parkway near Roosevelt early Monday morning, New York State Police said.
Victor Manuel Alvarez-Sierra, 22, of Adelphi, Md., struck the center guardrail while driving his Toyota Corolla eastbound on the Southern State Parkway near Exit 21, Nassau Road, causing significant front-end damage to his car at 4:07 a.m., police said.
Troopers said Alvarez-Sierra had poor motor coordination, bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. A breath sample found that he had a blood alcohol content of .19 percent, police said.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving without a license and traffic law violations.
