He may take his gas unleaded, but he’ll still be doing time behind cold hard steel.
A homeless Freeport man was arrested for robbing a Roslyn gas station on Friday night, Nassau police said.
Anthony McCready, 43, entered Power Gas on Nassau Road and demanded money from the 56-year-old attendant at 10:50 p.m., according to 1st squad detectives. The victim fled and ran onto outside, where multiple witnesses confirm told police McCready assaulted and stole cash from the clerk and before the alleged robber fled the scene.
Two Bureau of Special Operations officers apprehended McCready nearby. The victim was admitted to Nassau University Medical Center and is listed in serious condition as a result of the assault.
McCready is charged with second-degree robbery and will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
