An Albertson father faces drunken driving and child endangerment charges after driving his Lexus on a sidewalk at a Long Island school.
His 14-year-old son was in the passenger seat. An assistant principal at Herricks High School persuaded him to give up his car keys.
Surendran Nair, 47, was charged with driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child.
A court deposition says Nassau County police couldn’t do a field sobriety test because they feared the man was so drunk he’d fall and hurt himself.
Nair reportedly said that he’d had a couple of shots of cognac on an empty stomach. He said he’s apologized to his son and promised it won’t happen again.
