Featuring homes, businesses and other buildings that use solar technology, this self-guided tour includes passive solar design, solar hot water and solar-electric generating systems. Considered the largest public renewable energy education event in the world, the tour is an excellent way to experience first-hand that solar energy really works on Long Island. You can learn about the benefits of solar and other forms of renewable energy, watch electric meters run backwards, see the actual savings on utility bills, and talk to the people who own these systems. For a list of locations all over Long Island and to get your free visitors pass, visit: http://www.renewableenergylongisland.org/tourguests.cfm. 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
