hello there long island press,
Your lighthearted piece was certainly fun, but i think confusion arises when Veganism's understood as a diet, like Weight Watchers, or Vegetarianism.
Here's the thing. Do you close your eyes, cover your ears and sing la la la la la, when someone tells you about the brutality of factory farming. or find it too disturbing to witness film of the violence with which an animal is mutilated, penned and slaughtered? Of course you do, becuase you're human! Being a Vegan and eating a plant-based diet is choosing not to pay some poor soul to perform that carnage for you. That's any easy choice. Even when someone offers souvlaki! ;- )
This article was fun to read and informative too (Earh Balance rocks!!!!! I bake with it all the time). i do want people to know, however, that eating a plant-based diet is not about tofu - I've been a Vegan for years and rarely eat tofu - and it ain't about sacrifice. I love food too much for that!
thanks much and cheers,
