has anyone read the law? There is not supposed to be more then 50 of these cameras working at a time and yet everywhere i look either says there is 20 or 50+. The only list of them coming directly from the Nassau County website is posted from well over a year ago. I'm also looking into finding out about the money. All revenue from this program is supposed to sustain the program as well as fund contracts for the youth board, department of senior citizen affairs, department of veteran services, department of mental health, chemical dependency, and developmental disabilities services. also as far as where these cameras are being located i believe it's due to intersections with high accident reports. Obviously they aren't all working correctly and there are a lot of problems. I just don't like them on the principal that there are to many ways for you to get tickets you don't deserve.

Can't they just put turn signals in and enforce the law, rather than have these distracting cameras going off every two seconds. Seems to me like the county cares more about the revenue than safety.

Has anyone else noticed that these cams are going up only in middle class nassau neighborhoods?? The north shore has almost none of these cams.
Jericho, syosset, woodbury, manhasset, roslyn heights and other elite north shore hamlets have almost no cameras. Whereas south of Jericho, every hamlet is becoming camera city. Even the villages on the south shore are surrounded by them on the outskirts. So the argument that N. shore is all villages and that is the reason there are no cams is a bunch of crap! Nassau Co. is not even disclosing the locations anymore.
Thanks a lot Suozzi and Weitzman for proving who you really worked for. And that is why they are no longer in office. Hopefully Mangano will make this system fairer when more people realize this..

Nassau has a wonderful way to rob lawbiding citizens who pay hefty taxes for the delight of living here. I went through a yellow lite at Grand and Merrick Av. at 20 mph, & got a $50 ticket for going through red which I did not do. If I was trying to run the red, I would have been going a lot faster. Since when do you get a fine for going through yellow? Is it better to stop short and risk a hit in the rear?? I have never had a ticket , never had an accident and I am past 70. Nassau should concentrate on those aggressive drivers who cause accidents. This is robbery.

Nassau County is ripping people off, for sure. I got a ticket going EB on OCR turning into the mall,. the sign states that right turn must turn right. Bottom line is that its easier to pay the $50 than to go fight it in court and lose a morning or afternoon fighting it. The money is sent not only out of the county but out of NY state, which is absurd ! enough is enough ! lets cut the fat within our govt and stop sucking the tax payer dry. You know that when the "undocumented" who gets the ticket, who can't read the sign recieves the summons in the mail, well they just aren't paying it anyway !

DO NOT MAKE RIGHT TURN ON RED going into Roosevelt Field Shopping Center from west bound turn lane. Nassau County is ripping motorists off by knowing full there is no TURN ON RED , yet County does not post sign "NO TURN ON RED"

All they need to do is install 50 dollar sign notifying motorists, but they rather rip the Public off and make money on the scam.

The timing on the yellow light turning to red light definitely has to be re-examined. On Daly Blvd (where previously I did receive a ticket)...the yellow light displayed for ONE SECOND then turned red (last night...August 12th). I (naturally!) stopped at the yellow because I was wondering if Lee Levine's assertion was correct re: the all but too brief appearance of a yellow light. Her story appeared in Newsday because her husband (former judge Sam Levine) is challenging the fact that the system is flawed and those accused of passing red do not have the opportunity to face their accuser (the photo surveillance camera). Who is responsible for adjusting the timing of the yellow to red???? I received a ticket several months ago...and now just make a very conscious effort to just stop at yellow.

I drive through East Meadow now and just see flashes at every major intersection. Not while going through, but just stopped. I don't know if this is a practice run or the real deal but they're there. And there are no signs warning drivers about the camera light. So the information on the Nassau County website is totally wrong. Are these stupid cameras gonna just keep flashing? Even if nobody is blowing the light?

And the traffic signals are definetly shorter than they used to be. 5 cars can't pass with out the light turning red. This is going to be a nightmare. God help you if you get stuck behind a row of cars all trying to turn.

A truck an 18 wheeler truck needs min 4 second amber it has been proven that the System is in the favor of the government with most lights set at a 2.9 second amber.

My 80 year old mother-in-law just got a ticket in the mail for turning right on red....and it's allowable. The ticket shows her turning and stating she didn't stop. Only problem was I was following her home and witnessed her stopping in front of me. I stopped and followed her through and got no ticket....this system is flawed. I believe it is trigerred if you stop and you bumper crosses the white line. The only way you can make the turn due to line of sight is to get up to the white line. Nice job Tom.......I hope the recount ends soon and you're out the door.

I just heard that a red light camera was installed on Atlantic Avenue and Lawson Blvd in Oceanside NY.... This happens to be the worst intersection in Western Nassau County.... The delays here are already enough to make someone want to scream..... Now they'll get a ticket too....Wow...Why doesn't the county do something about the traffic snag rather than collecting money. I'll avoid that intersection at all costs. Thanks for the heads up. Great work Suozzi.

This happens to be the worst intersection in Western Nassau County…. The delays here are already enough to make someone want to scream….. Now they’ll get a ticket too….Wow…Why doesn’t the county do something about the traffic snag rather than collecting money. I’ll avoid that intersection at all costs. Thanks for the heads up. Great work Suozzi.
