Authorities are investigating a pair of robberies that took place in Massapequa during the early morning hours of Sunday, May 31, Nassau Police say.
In the first case, a 19-year-old man was grabbed by one robber as he walked eastbound on Merrick Road neat West Shore Drive while the second robber went through the victim’s pockets before pushing him to the ground at 1:55 a.m., according to 7th Squad detectives. The two robbers, who were described as teenaged white boys with dark bandanas covering their faces, fled on foot in an unknown direction with the victim’s cell phone, police add.
Shortly later, a 21-year-old man was walking westbound on Massachusetts Avenue near Bedford Place when two robbers ran up behind him at 2:50 am. When the victim turned around, he was confronted by one robber who was holding a wooden object, possibly a baseball bat, while the second robber demanded everything he had, detectives say. After taking an unknown amount of cash, the robbers, who were also described as teenaged white boys, one wearing a dark bandana covering his face, fled on foot eastbound on Commonwealth Avenue, police say.
